The Irish National Heritage Park

1936, it is one of Ireland’s last intact windmills.


Our Lady’s Island, Carne. With the ruins of a Norman Castle
built in 1237 and a 15th Century Augustinian Priory, is a
national pilgrimage venue. Lady’s Island Lake, a pleasant
bicycle journey away, with Ireland’s largest breeding tern
colony, is a Special Protection Area and a Refuge for Fauna.

Wexford’s premier visitor attraction, demonstrating man’s
settlement in Ireland from 7000 BC to the Normans in the

Saltee Islands, bird sanctuary situated off the picturesque
village of Kilmore Quay. Grey and common seals,
Common Bottlenose and Risso’s Dolphins, Minke Whale and
Basking Shark.


Westgate Heritage Centre, Wexford. With narrow streets
running down to the quay, the town has seen Vikings and
Normans, been sacked by Cromwell’s army and served as a
centre in the 1798 rebellion. Walking tours available.

Over one-third of the world’s population of Greenland
White-fronted Geese spend the winter on the Wexford

The visitor centre traces the Rebellion of 1798 in County
Wexford, together with events as they happened in Europe,
the United States and Australia. An audio/visual display on a
curved screen simulates the battle of nearby Vinegar Hill.
